GRASSP Licensing

LICENSING OF GRASSP

The GRASSP is currently being used worldwide in multiple SCI centres and as an endpoint in multiple studies.

Since 2009 the GRASSP has been available to the SCI community for use.

The GRASSP Research and Development Group has created a tiered licensing process that is managed by the UHN Technology Transfer and Business Office.

The licensing system is designed to ensure there is a fair opportunity for all parties choosing to use GRASSP in their work. The licensing process is a separate process from the purchase of GRASSP kits. Please read the tiers below to understand within which category your research falls into. Licensing Tiers:

Tier 1

Clinical License for the individual purchasing the product. This agreement is executed online when the GRASSP is purchased. There is no fee for this license, only that the purchaser is aware that the use of the GRASSP Kit they are purchasing is meant for clinical implementation. The purchaser will not collect data for an academic or sponsored driven study within this agreement.

Tier 2

Academic License for use within an investigator driven study, that is or is not funded by a not for profit granting foundation/agency. This license can apply to primary investigators, graduate students, academic institutions, research institutes and healthcare institutes. There is no fee for this license, however, a data sharing agreement is required. Commercialize at UHN will execute the license. The de-identified GRASSP data collected in the study will be requested at the end of the study. The data transfer agreement (DTA) will be executed by the KITE Research Institute-UHN. The specific data elements that will be requested will be included in the DTA. There can be an administrative fee attached to execution of this agreement

Tier 3

Industry License for a company or for-profit organization conducting a study or trial. This license requires a fee and the license is executed with Commercialize at UHN.

Tier 4

Private Healthcare Institutes using GRASSP as a part of the medical record or charging a third party to provide GRASSP results. This license requires a fee that is executed with Commercialize at UHN.

Tier 5

If you are planning to translate the GRASSP, this can be done only if a translation license is in place. This license is executed by Commercialize at UHN. Once the translation is completed, the translated version of the GRASSP can only be distributed by the GRASSP Research and Development Group

Tier 6

If you are an investigator, institution or sponsor planning to digitized the GRASSP score sheets a digitization license is required. In this license there is a commitment by the licensee that the digital version will not be shared with any other party. This license is executed by Commercialize at UHN and there is a fee associated with this license for digitization
