TRI-HFT Licensing

LICENSING OF TRI HAND-FUNCTION TEST

The TRI Hand-Function Test (TRI-HFT) is currently being used in a number of biomedical engineering labs and within some investigator driven studies. Since its initial release, the TRI-HFT has been available to the SCI community for use. The TRI-HFT Inventors group has created a tiered licensing process that is managed by Commercialize at UHN.

The licensing system is designed to ensure there is a fair opportunity for all parties choosing to use the TRI-HFT in their work. The licensing process is separate from the purchase of TRI-HFT kits. Licensing Tiers:

Tier 1

Clinical License for the individual purchasing of the product. This agreement is executed online when the TRI-HFT is purchased. There is no fee for this license, only that the purchaser is aware that the use of the TRI-HFT Kit they are purchasing is meant for clinical implementation. The purchaser will not collect data for an academic or sponsor-driven study within this agreement.

Tier 2

Academic License for use within an investigator driven study, that is or is not funded by a not for profit granting foundation/agency. This license can apply to primary investigators, graduate students, academic institutions, research institutes and healthcare institutes. There is no fee for this license, however, a data sharing agreement is required. Commercialize at UHN will execute the license. The de-identified TRI-HFT data collected in the study will be requested at the end of the study. The data transfer agreement (DTA) will be executed by the KITE Research Institute-UHN. The specific data elements that will be requested will be included in the DTA. There can be an administrative fee attached to execution of this agreement.

Tier 3

Industry License for a company or for-profit organization conducting a study or trial. This license requires a fee and the license is executed with Commercialize at UHN
