The 8th biennial Canadian Spinal Cord Injury Rehabilitation Association (CSCIRA) conference will be held in Niagara, Ontario from October 17th-19th, 2019. The expert consensus conference will focus to develop the first comprehensive Canadian best practice guidelines for Spinal Cord Injury (SCI) care by adapting and updating SCI guidelines for implementation in Canadian SCI Centers and community care. NOCI’s very own CSO, Dr. Sukhvinder Kalsi-Ryan will be a part of the panel of expert researchers, clinicians and health care administrators within the SCI field across Canada and other jurisdictions to participate in an activity that will:
a) Review the findings from a quality assessment of previously published best practice guidelines in the SCI field;
b) Review evidence for treatments through expert input and review the Spinal Cord Injury Research Evidence (SCIRE) at https://scireproject.com/
c) Develop evidence and clinical informed practice recommendations that could be implemented in Canadian SCI Centers and community care during the next phase of the project. This will involve a combination of small and large group work based on your specific area of expertise and;
d) Identify potential performance indicators to measure practice related to the recommendations.
